Day 0 - Waddington to High Wycombe and Prep

Day 0. Waddington to High Wycombe and Prep.

Before the big trip started, I had quite a long trip to do – the 150 miles to High Wycombe, where we would be preparing the bikes prior to setting off. The ride down was fairly uneventful, and I got to Rupert's place around 1030ish.

I was presented with a vision of activity – Gary from GS Motorcyle tyres was busy putting some fresh rubber onto Rupert's bike, whilst Steve was mid-way through an oil change. During the morning, my bike would also get this treatment. Also, we'd got loads of stickers to put on the bikes, showing where we are going who we're supporting - plus some from our product sponsors. We've got some visor cleaning sponges, ant-fog wipes and a rain repelling treatment from Visorvision, our tyres at cost price from Avon and the guys who did all our decals.

At 2pm we made our way up to the front of Air Command for some photos by the Hurricane. ACOS A4 came out to wish us luck on the way and posed for the camera with us.

The next challenge was to work out where, on already fully-laden bikes – we were going to secrete 22 days of rations! After some inventive packing and discarding the bits we didn't want (biscuit brown anyone?) it all went in somewhere though.

I took the opportunity to pop and see some mates whilst at High Wycombe, and ended up getting roped into putting a 12x12 tent for Dale's BBQ!

The evening consisted of some fish and chips, and getting our heads down ready for the morning – thanks to the Sgt's mess for sorting out free rooms in Victor Block for us.
