What better way to start a day of riding, than a fat-boy cooked breakfast? The wardroom at HMS Sultan is a really nice place to rest your head if you ever get the chance!
We all rendezvoused at 9;30 to begin, Chris joined us again, bringing his brother Tim along as he's local and could get us going in the right direction!
Our first stop was at Calshot, a former RAF Base which was home to the High Speed Flight, that competed in the Schnieder trophy in the 1930's.

Then through the New Forest – we sat in Beaulieu for a while whilst a grey horse stood in the road watching us watching her!
Onwards through to Bournemouth where Rupert's bike tried to squash him when we stopped for fuel - he managed to show the Yamaha who was boss though! From that incident, we took the first of 3 ferries today at Sandbank. A flying visit to Portland Bill was made, where we resisted the urge to get ice creams, but Hero the bear got another photo taken.
The scenery has been much improved today, Dorset and Devon are beautiful parts of the world. Corfe Castle and Lulworth Cove are lovely places – must come back and visit at a slower pace! Also picturesque was the excitingly named village of 'Beer'!

The second ferry of the day took us across to Dartmouth – when I say ferry, it was like a tea-tray being dragged across the river by a tug-boat! Still, it got us across with no dramas. Dartmouth is of course home to the Britannia Naval College where the Royal Navy trains it's officers. We didn't pop in!
As time was against us, we cut about 20 miles out of the route to get in to Plymouth and feed both ourselves and the bikes. After a quick tour of the Barbican area, the last ferry of our day took us over to Torpoint, and HMS Raliegh where we had accommodation booked.
Bit of a long day, didn't get to our destination until nearly 10. We're setting off earlier tomorrow in the hope of finishing at a more respectable time. Should be a good day, taking in Lizard Point and Land's End.
